thirsty third thursday craft club

Craft club is still the greatest. (Evidenced here and here.)

Again, the rules are this: the monthly host picks and provides the craft and bites, while everyone else comes with a bottle of wine to share. How easy and fun is that?

I, of course, wanted to host post reno and pre baby, so I invited the gang over a few Thursdays ago, but I had been thinking about it for a long time. I trolled A Beautiful Mess and Pinterest daily, looking for a fun and manageable craft, with the only requirements being that it be decently easy and seasonally fun. With that, I found and settled on something laughably easy: homemade citronella candles.

All you need for this project are mason jars, citronella oil (I just bought tiki torch refills), floating candles, and anything scented and pretty to fill the jar with (I chose lemons, limes, rosemary, and mint). Then, it was a matter of just slicing up the lemons and limes and rosemary and mint sprigs, positioning around the jar, and filling with citronella oil. Then when ready to be used, you just drop in a floating candle and light. That’s it. Garnish the closed jar with some twine or ribbon or a tag and you’re done.

Again, I love that we have this excuse to gather with gals that don’t normally run together. Plus, everyone is so thoughtful and kind that it makes hanging out so enjoyable. And then with the craft, we get to try our hands at something fun and worthwhile. It is just such a win all the way around. Can’t wait for the next one.
