Coming right back at you today with the outfit post of what I wore to Keeneland. But to talk about it, we need to talk about what is annoying.
The weather in April. It says it is spring, but a gusty fifty-five can blow right through your backless-cutout-illusion plan. It can also throw a wrench in your midi skirt–tank top option. And just when you think, no worries, there’s always your mega flares and a trendy top, you remember no denim in the clubhouse. Time to hate everyone.
But much to my own surprise, I decided to try something I’ve always wanted to try – the dress-worn-as-skirt illusion. I actually pulled out a bridesmaid dress from a fall wedding, and layered it with a snug little J.Crew sweater and belt. The fuchsia of the dress was seasonal and bright, and the sweater (plus jacket) added neutrality and comfort. It felt fashionable and fun, while also being functional and fresh. This last minute concoction talked me right off the ledge.
