holiday cards giveaway with paperless post

I am the type who considers Thanksgiving to be Christmas kickoff. I do love and appreciate the holiday for what it is, and I value getting together with family to celebrate what is right and good, but the moment it is over, it is nothing but sleigh bells jingling ring-ting-tingling until New Year’s.

And now that I have an extra cutie in my life, I get super excited by the prospect of holiday cards. This year, I’ve got a couple of things in the works, but they’ll all be competing with these super spontaneous and serendipitous pictures captured by Katie Moore.

Katie was running a series of mini sessions in her backyard, which happened to be happening right next door to a friend’s son’s first birthday party. I had one eye on Harry in the bounce house, and one eye on the shoot that was commencing, and luckily that didn’t creep Katie out because she kindly let my little interloper slide in for a few shots.

So while I have another holiday mini session on the books, and I’ve had outfit plans in my head for months, I was just too lucky to happen upon Katie and her amazingly adorable work. Now though, one of you will also get lucky as I’m running a great giveaway with Paperless Post…

I have been personally scanning all the holiday card options for days now because I too will be going this route, so I hope you are as excited as I am!

Now this giveaway is going to be…subjective. To enter, please leave a comment on this post sharing a holiday card anecdote – it could be your plans for this year’s card, a story from holiday cards past, why this is a particularly good year to send out a little something, whatever – and know I will be choosing my favorite. Be it because it makes me laugh, makes me cry, or gives me the much needed feels due to this year having been pretty woof, it is my hopes we can all have some good fun with this one in order to make the most of this super exciting and generous giveaway.

So again, comment on this post and stay tuned for the winner! Make sure to leave at least your first name and contact email address for a chance to be chosen!

My husband and I have matching Home Alone Christmas ‘Ugly Sweaters’. This year I want to do a photo wearing them with our pup captioned, ‘Merry Christmas, ya filthy animals!’

Due to my wife’s perfectionist nature and the fact that our fur babies and/or kids wouldn’t cooperate when it came time for the family pictures to be taken for our card, we’ve resorted to regular boxed cards to send to friends and family.

    Anyone else like that? lol

2016 was pretty much the worst, however my family (all 9 of us!) took an incredible vacation to the BVI back in May so we will be using photos from that trip on our holiday cards. I think we decided on one where the whole family is simultaneously jumping off a pirate ship (yes even my parents) and maybe another where we found a cute little decorated Christmas tree on a beautiful white sand beach with the perfectly blue water in the background. When we look back on 2016 I hope to mostly just remember that trip and the fantastic time spent with my fam :)

Each year we put a big white-light artificial tree outside and shoot photos of our kiddos in front of it. We put on music, give them Santa hats and just let them be themselves. Then we make a collage of our favorites as our Christmas card. It’s a riot to see how much they grow in a year and the photos are just hilarious! :)

My dog and I (pre husband and baby) used to dress up for our holiday cards… yep you got that right… turned into full on costume. First year we kept it light with little matching sweaters, people were not sure if we were joking or serious, only made it funnier. The second year my pug was an elf and I dressed like Santa and the third year we were both rudolph red nose and everything! Life got in the way and I didn’t do them for two years in a row, I actually had people ask me if they were taken off my Christmas card distribution list! Who knew you could spread some good ole holiday laughter by sending a funny card! With email and facebook these days I think people really appreciated getting a holiday card in the mail! I really should start sending out the cards again this year, now that we have a baby we really should step up our game!

I agree that 2016 has been the absolute worst (except for birth of my younger boy). If I won, I’d pick a card that includes the word ” peace” and/or “hope” in some way in hopes that 2017 brings peace and hope to family and friends.
