a love letter

myne colbalt blue dressYou all. I have two dresses that are on display on the door of my closet because I just cannot get myself to hang them among their contemporaries.  All dresses are equal, but some dresses are more equal than others.  (If you get that, consider yourself awesome.)  This is one of those dresses.

The dress is from Sloane Boutique, which in my opinion, is the only dangerous place in Over-the-Rhine.  The store is absolutely killer.  Every single item there is cool.  I mean, New York / Chicago / LA cool.  It’s the place you go to if looking for something different, something edgy, something you can’t find at your local mall.  I generally avoid making eye contact with the mannequins in the window for fear that I will be lured in by the sirens in a reverie-like state, to uncontrollably purchase something that should be a splurge reserved only for a monumental birthday or one’s own rehearsal dinner.

On the particular day in which this beaut became mine, I was on a happy hour high when the really pretty sales girl persuaded me to try it on.  She added that Kim K had been photographed all over the place in the dress, and a quick Google Image search confirmed the whole klan had rocked some variation of it. Controlling my gag reflex, I put it on, then fell in love with myself.  (Which completely explains why it would be a Kardazzian favorite.  Totally get it.)  The color, the pockets, the fact that it’s draped like Harem pants, makes me weak.  I’m not usually one for short or cap sleeves, but this bad boy is so flattering that I’m now all for it.  And by the way, it’s stupid comfortable.DSCF0957DSCF0964 DSCF0973Myne dress (also in black) | Kate Spade necklace (no longer available but similar here) | Target clutch (favorite variation) | Jessica Simpson heels (mine are super old but here are a nearly identical pair)
