The second meeting of the thirsty thursday craft club supports my hypothesis that this club is one of the greatest ideas of all times.
This month, we braved the arctic to accept our new friend Martha’s hospitality for some good old fun. I mean old in the old sense, as this month’s craft was diving into bushels of yarn to create tapestries and banners. I was very much into this one.
Following Martha’s good lead and taste, there were greys and neutrals to pick from, with varying flecks and textures. There were also subtle and bright colored yarns to incorporate for vivid and eye-catching touches. With an assortment of dowel rods, natural wood sticks, gold rings, and colored strings, each could craft their wall piece to their liking and style.
This one might have created a monster. I spent my following snow weekend practicing the art of the pom, working on a homemade loom, making another tapestry, and starting a tasseled banner that I foresee hanging above the crib. My house is about to be glittered with nothing but handmade yarn creations. Sorry I’m not sorry.
