Now that I don’t have a care in the world, I picked up and went to Lexington for the weekend to visit with my oldest best bud Brittany MacGregor. There was no holding back.
I got down there Friday night and after gabbing over a few glasses of sauvignon blanc, we headed out to dinner at Table Three Ten. This spot was awesome and has a seasonal menu. There was a mussels special so of course I begged that we order. That, plus some artisan cheese and white wine, made for the perfect little dinner. Great bites, good chatting, and a super sweet atmosphere was exactly the kind of start that we needed to kick off the awesome weekend we had.
After Table Three Ten, we headed across the street to Belle’s Cocktail House, which was just a fun little bar where all sorts of people were hanging out. Pretty generic of a description there, but Brittany described it as the adult Rosebuds. (For those unfamiliar, back in the day, Rosebuds was a pretty hoppin’ college spot where you were bound to see everyone you know. Same can be said about Belle’s.)
The next morning, we rolled out of bed at the wee hour of 11 o’clock, prepped ourselves for a pretty exhaustive pool day, and made a pit stop for a necessary cup of coffee. We headed to Cup of Common Wealth and got in on their Pay It Forward campaign, where you buy a future coffee for someone by marking the sleeve with something unique. The sleeves are pinned to the wall and if you find one that works for you, you get that coffee. Neither one of us qualified for any, but we wanted to play along too.
We decided to hopefully treat some buddies like us – close close friends who happen to live in our different and respective cities. Too fun.
After coffee, we planted ourselves at the pool, talked and solved all the problems of the world, then headed to a pool party/cookout/Belmont Race house party, then went out for more dinner, and capped it all off with one more stint at Belle’s. All in all, I totally appreciated Brittany’s hospitality, the awesome company that I got to meet and catch up with (sup Jon!), and enjoyed the kind of weekend plans that make you feel like you’re on vacation. Such a good one. Until next time, Lexington!

Ah, I live a block away from Cup of Common Wealth!
I would go there every single day and get the mocha one with cinnamon…I literally thought about it my entire drive home.
