Did you all know that June is Wine Month? And I know what you are thinking – Katie, every month is wine month. And I couldn’t agree more. But at least we have one month to not appear like total lushes. This month, we’re enthusiasts!
So in the spirit of Wine Month, Kenny, the babe, and I, did our part and explored a local winery.
Vinoklet Winery and Restaurant is located on Colerain Avenue, and while it was about thirty minutes away from our Eastside dwellings, it was totally worth the trip. For one, it is nestled beautifully in the rolling hills of Hamilton County. The drive was a familiar one to me, as I was a Miami University graduate student, but the turn down Colerain Avenue to Vinoklet was one I had never taken.
Everything about their grounds was lush – tons of vines and foliage sprawling the trellis walkway. The gazebos and porches were lined with flowers and plants alike. Of course, there were rolling hills of grapes and vines, but sitting between them all was the sweetest pond, cued up perfectly for a wedding ceremony.
The night we visited was a quiet one, but everything about it was accommodating. We were greeted promptly upon entering, and when we shared that we were just interested in some wine, we were led to the bar and given a number of samples. Kenny and I both walked in with an open mind, and when we simply suggested we were in the mood for a white, one that could be lightly dry and/or sweet, we were provided with three good options, and then we chose our bottle. Within moments, we had a bottle and two plastic glasses to enjoy outside, baby in tow.
We ultimately sat in one of the gazebos, which made things easy while Harry explored and touched every tiny thing he could find (he is so tactile). There were people meandering in and out, and we felt as comfortable as if we were sitting on our own back patio. That, plus the view, plus the bottle, made for one perfect little night.
So I encourage you to get out there and enjoy this specifically denoted wine month. And if you are in the area, consider a trip to Vinoklet. It is sweet and simple and worth the visit.
