Clearly I love food events.
Which is why I was super excited to attend the second annual Iron Fork this past Wednesday at the Cincinnati Art Museum. The Iron Fork is a showcase of Cincinnati’s best local chefs battling it out in a head-to-head competition. Dan Stoltz from The Mercer, Brad Bernstein from Red Feather, Gary Davis from Jack Binion’s Steakhouse, and Becca Kinney from La Poste were the chefs to compete this year, and Brad Bernstein won the prestigious Iron Fork. What was super fun about the competition was that each chef prepared dishes in a set amount of time, and three went to the official judges and one was auctioned off to the crowd.
But besides the competition, there were samples from award-winning cuisine from local restaurants all featured in City Beat’s annual Food & Dining Guide. Some of my favorite bites included the ravioli from La Poste, the chicken sandwich from Just Jerks, the chicken wrap from Four Seasons Catering, the brat burger from Nation, and the many cake bites I stole from Holtman’s. Moerlein was the official beer sponsor and there was also a specialty apple-based cocktail being served.
For only being the second year, this was an amazing event. There were tons of people in attendance, with an amazing chef and restaurant presence providing a plethora of samples to eat and drink. We took our time, hung out, treated ourselves to what we knew we loved and got to try quite a few new things. For a foodie, this was where it was at.
