As I Instagram mentioned, my girlfriends and I zipped up to Chicago to do a bit of celebrating this past weekend.
The real and most important reason for the trip was to throw our dearest gal, Sally, a wedding shower. While that was definitely the heart of the trip, we also took the time together to celebrate all the littles ones coming our way – four out of six of us are expecting – so we also snuck in a little brunch and called it a babies shower.
So while there was nothing but love to go around all weekend, there is nothing but love that I now need to share for where my friends and I stayed for the weekend – The Hollander.
Per Sally’s recommendation, we booked a room at The Hollander, a new hostel-esque hotel located on W North Ave in the Bucktown / Wicker Park area. This spot was particularly convenient for us as it was only a few blocks away from Sal’s digs, but it was also exactly what we needed considering our quick weekend stay.
For starters, it was totally and ridiculously affordable. For four of us to share a room, it only cost $68 each – for the entire weekend. That is less than brunch for one in some parts of Chicago. Now, to get that price down, we did opt to pay the non-refundable rate, as well as book a room with one queen and a set of bunk beds, but know that it was far from roughing it. The layout, amenities, and arrangements were all we needed to crash. For that price, function, and location, it was a no brainer.
During our stay, we did get to spent each morning in the downstairs lobby, sipping special lattes and teas, which was an awesome and easy treat. It was there that I got swept away by the design and aesthetic of the space. Modern, sharp, utilitarian, and functional – there was nothing that wasn’t thoughtful and effective. And back in our room, I, a lover of compartments and organization, was the only one to capitalize on the lockers, where I easily kept my stuff together and off to the side. Fun and functional – win win in my book.
At the end of the day, I think I’ve really got a gem for you here with The Hollander recommendation. Chicago is such a good get away city seeing as it is not too far from here. And while that part makes it sound super easy, I am aware that sometimes the trip can appear bigger than initially expected. But with this option, seeing as it is seriously affordable, centrally located, and perfectly comfortable, I imagine you’ve got more than enough reason to make those plans you’ve been itching to make.
Shout me a holler when you book and stay. Would love to hear all about it.
