The mediterranean quest immediately commenced upon recommendations. And I’ll be honest, the overwhelming response was in support of Andy’s, but I couldn’t get excited about the menu. One menu I could get excited about? Phoenician Taverna. But I’m reserving that one for the weekend just so I’ll have time to get there. It’ll be a hike.
But another tantalizing menu was that of Mediterranean King, so my two girlfriends and I made a week night date to try it.
I would say it was good. Definitely good. And precisely what I was looking for. We all shared and ordered the same thing – baba ghanouj, falafel, beef shawerma, and fries – and we were all in agreement. The baba ghanouj was not bad, but not that great (it was not quite like baba ghanoujs we have had in the past). The falafels were killer. And the beef shawerma was tasty (I’d liken it to a mediterranean hamburger). Overall, this is what I think of when I think of mediterranean and I’d definitely go back. Especially for a good weekend lunch…then it would really hit the spot.
(I made a promise to myself to never call anything awkward out on the blog. I hate when people put up pictures and then say things like don’t mind my horribly exposed unzipped fly because then that’s all I look at. But I went back and forth about posting the above picture. I get that it might be…abrasive. Even when I asked Kenny what he thought, he was like I can’t tell if I hate it or not. And I agree. It might be too much. But I wanted you to get a sense of the shawerma. If it wasn’t the above angle, it was the picture below. And that definitely doesn’t it do it justice. But if I went wrong here, feel free to let me know. I take full responsibility,)
