It feels like it has been forever and a day since I’ve had a good old fashioned out post to share. Feels good to be back.
And speaking of things that happened forever ago, forever ago we tried the new LouVino for brunch. Even though it was on our list to check out, it was a last minute decision and one that ended up being awesome. Kenny and I were there with his brother and wife (sup Tyler and Julia!) and since they know how we like to roll, we all ordered something different and made a point to share. So indulge me as I indulge you with the indulgences.
First pick was Kenny’s steak and eggs, served with hash browns and over easy eggs. This was classic, hearty, and dense yet satisfying. Felt like a real man’s breakfast and we all pounded our chests in unifying agreement.
And then not to brag, but the best was my pancake tacos order. And you read that right – pancake tacos. Bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs and cheese all atop, and then ultimately in, a pancake shell. Served with maple dipping sauce, these puppers nailed the savory and sweet perfection combo.
Tyler, a man after my own heart, ordered the eggs benedict. Cheddar grit cakes, crispy shrimp, red pepper hollandaise, and tomato-jalapeno relish, this one was richly southern and richly flavorful. Worth making the room for.
Finally, Julia went classic-with-a-capital-C southern breakfast by ordering the biscuits and gravy. Hard to mess something like biscuits, goetta gravy, and a sunny side egg up, so it should come as no surprise that we were all fans.
LouVino, which is a small local chain, having just a handful of locations in Louisville, Indiana, and now here, is totally one to check out. It is southern food that isn’t there to ultimately make you just want to spend the rest of the day on the couch, even though it will give you that very comfortable homey feeling. Everything on the menu will be recognizable and good, and everything will be done with a nice little twist. We all look forward to going back for dinner.
