Last year, Kenny and I spent the night at Elk Creek Vineyards and immediately knew this was something we needed to do again. So as part of my Christmas gift this year, he booked us another night and once again, we were not disappointed.
Located just about an hour south of here, a winter night at this vineyard is the perfect mini-getaway. We arrived around six, dropped off our bags, and headed to the lodge for the night. The lodge itself is super cozy, which is why it is so fun to go during the winter. There is live music and a little cafe where you can order anything from a cheese plate to prime rib. We started the night off with a glass of happy hour wine and then moved on to the tastings. You have to be at the bar to do the tastings and we might have stood there for two hours. The bartender was super friendly, gave us great recommendations and put us through a few blind taste tests, which was a blast. Once we had our tasting fill, we each picked out the bottle and cozied up at a table in the corner for the rest of the night. Everything at the lodge winds down at nine so it makes for a really easy and chill little evening.
