GILD Collective is a local start up that facilitates in-home craft parties for you and your friends. Here’s how easily it works – a hostess books a party, she then invites her friends to buy their individual craft kits, the kits are shipped to the hostess, then you all party. Who’s in!?
Well, the gals of Thread Cincinnati sure were when we were invited to try our hands at a craft. We were walked through our craft, vintage-inspired earrings, by the three owners, Rachel, Kelsey, and Jessie, who then also told us all about how GILD works. I couldn’t be more impressed or sold on their idea. In fact, the next day I sent out an email to my amateur craft club with links to the five other crafts that I want to make sure we do. I’m now even more looking forward to our thirsty thursday craft club meetings.
Now while we got to party with the founding mothers, there are essentially three types of parties to be had. One version is the hostess-led party. For this party, the hostess will be supplied with step-by-step photo and text instructions, as well as a video link that shows a closeup/aerial view of how to complete the craft. This party would just be you and your friends, the instructions, and the craft.
Or you could have an instructor-led party, where an instructor will come to the hostess’s home (or wherever she has the event) and walk the party through the craft, so therefore there is someone there to help each person with each step of the craft, as opposed to the instructions and video link.
Or what is even more exciting is that GILD has just recently launched a new local artisan party, which is like an instructor-led party but a step up, with more expert level crafts taught by the artisans themselves. GILD has since connected with tons of different local artists (in particular a metal stamper, a jewelry designer, and a personalized wooden sign maker/letterer) who will soon be leading parties. These parties will work the same as the normal parties, only the dates will be somewhat more limited as they are only taught by the expert, rather than the arsenal of general instructors. THIS, my friends, sounds awesome.
So if this at all interests you, I highly recommend you checking them out. Again, I have my eye on so many of their other crafts, and knowing how perfectly their kits are put together, how fun it is to craft (and drink wine) with friends, and what you then walk away with, I cannot wait to plan and attend many parties to come.
But wait, there’s more?! Anyone who mentions OUT + OUTFIT, or any of the other Thread Cincinnati blogs in the “how did you hear about GILD” section of their inquiry form will receive 20 percent off all of the kits when they book! It really does keep getting better and better.
