dinner and a movie

esquire_webLast Friday, Kenny and I went out on a super low key date. I didn’t take my camera because I wasn’t planning on having anything to say, but I do. Plus I need help!

I am not really a movie watcher/goer. I generally only head to the theater when Kenny feels like it. And even then I’m pretty 50/50 on the whole endeavor. But it was better than just sitting around, plus I suggested something at The Esquire, which is by the far the coolest and quaintest movie theater in town.

Anyway, we left with only a thirty minute window to grab a bite before. Upon driving into Clifton, Kenny simply pulled over when he spotted Floyd’s, a small mediterranean spot on Calhoun Street. I was full from a Starbucks frappuccino that I had to have before, so we simply split a greek salad, some hummus, and Kenny got the moussaka. Everything was great and hit the spot, but here’s where I need you. Mediterranean is probably my most favorite type of cuisine but I know no great restaurants. Finding Floyd’s was a fluke and it makes me what to know more. So help me out Cincinnati people, where can I go for great, authentic, Greek/Mediterranean!?! Food is all I have now…

On another note, we saw St. Vincent and I so highly recommend it. It was funny and sweet and heartbreaking and quirky and exactly the type of movie I like to watch when I watch one – a movie that’s more about people than plot. I love nothing more than movies about tragically flawed, yet innocently hopeful people. St. Vincent is just that.  And Bill Murray kicks ass. Bottom line.

My first and only encounter with Mediterranean food was on a girls night at Phoenician Taverna in Mason. I was hooked! I have not had a chance to go back, but absolutely would. My hubs is not quite as adventurous, so I have yet to be able to get him to try. ;)

I’m not sure if either of these places are still open, but they definitely are both amazing. Andy’s Mediterranean Grill off Reading Rd by Eden Park is very delicious and used to had lunch specials. And my favorite anytime restaurant in Clifton is Myra’s Dionysus on Calhoun. It was facing possible closure due to leases/owner issues but I really hope it’s still open. Good luck with everything and congrats on the baby!!

People are definitely chanting Andy’s, so I think that’s a must try. And Myra’s Dionysus unfortunately closed :( So looks like I’m trying Andy’s!
